Space, Learning, and Baby’s 1st Furniture
For those of you wondering where Freybb, I mean panda, is going to be rooming… we have preliminary photos of it all working out just fine in our apartment (in case any Martellians are thinking we’re going to annex their suite… though, we have thought of that too).
First of all, let me just say that I KNOW life has changed in a big way because I went from learning all I could about guitars, triathlon bikes, and paintball guns… to now learning more than I ever wanted to know about cribs, strollers, and diapers. Someone from work said to me today… “Hey, I saw you “like” some baby store on facebook over the weekend”… yep… that’s me. I checked my profile and my last three likes were transferbigfiles.com, the Houston Social Media Expo, and The Original Mud Run of Houston (which was a blast by the way).
A huge thank you, and I’m sure it will continue, to Baby’s 1st Furniture… all locations (I think we’ve been to all of them… including
the distribution center). Our first stop was at in West University on Kirby. Very helpful folks, and ultimately we purchased something from this store… thanks to Miss Nguyen… but not before visiting the Galleria store for a few hours… the Sugar Land store on a different day… and then driving up I-45 to the huge store last weekend. The helpful man a
t the distribution center even loaded everything and tied it down himself… safely and quickly. Again, ultimately, we made our purchase at the Kirby store. I went by myself that day, and kept them for about 30 minutes after they closed while deciding which pieces would actually fit in our space.
That brings me back to space. My mom and dad have told me more than once that I was housed in a closet, though a very nice walk in closet, but a converted closet none the less, when I was brought home from the hospital. Others have said, “babies don’t take up much room… it’s just all their stuff that does.” Well, we’re trying to cut down on all the stuff… so… (again, from Baby’s 1st)… apparently we only needed to make room for a crib, changing table, some storage, a rocker/glider, and a few other things to go with all that. (Stroller too, but we can park that somewhere.) Therefore, we purchased the crib, changing table/hutch, dresser, glider, a nightstand and moved our furniture around this weekend to accommodate.
Included through this post are some pictures of the furniture in the store, Miss Nguyen helping me with some measurements, Stephanie visiting on a different day, our new set up (with our bedroom furniture moved into the living room and dining room for storage, and the new crib, changing table/hutch (which the company, Baby’s Dream, calls a double dresser). All this furni
ture is from the “enchanted” collection. (It’s sounds a bit girly, so if we have a boy, we’ll calling it the “bootcamp” collection.)
GENDER UPDATE… we may know TOMORROW. So, be sure to take the poll located here to guess before it’s too late: http://freybaby.com/gender-poll/
The last picture below is from 7:45am when the cleaning staff had to call in a cart to haul away all the packing from the furniture and everything else we had to purge from our apartment to make room.

Why “Panda”…?
So, I, Jeff, am fairly fond of Frey Baby… now pronounced “frybb”… isn’t that catchy? Stephanie, however, has been calling the little one “panda.” “WHY PANDA, Jeff… WHY?” people ask. Well, I’ll let her tell you…
Our first ultrasound was when we were seven weeks, and immediately upon looking at the image I said “it looks like a panda.” AND… an image of a panda was much more welcoming to me than thinking about a little ‘blob’ in my stomach. So, the name has stuck with me! We are affectionately referring to our frey baby as ‘panda’ until we know the sex and have another name (aren’t we, Jeff). On Mother’s Day this year, Jeff gave me a little stuffed panda that is now dear to my heart. There are some pictures of it below… and I’ve asked Jeff to do a little image editing as well.

P.S. Sam, the silky terror, apparently does not like the panda and has attempted to decapitate it’s head… hopefully this is not an early sign of sibling rivalry.
So, as you can see… the little panda is doing quite well in there. Though the more recent sonogram was amazing in the detail… no longer a panda… it looks like a grown up human already. So, whether you like freybb or panda, we’ll hopefully know the gender soon so we can say “him” or “her.” Until then, no “it” references please. :)

Thanks!
Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. It feels good to know that we have so many people supporting us.
I still can’t believe this is happening. Each day I realize more and more what a huge learning curve Jeff and I have. It’s also funny to hear how products and opinions keep changing about what to, or not to, do when it comes to pregnancy, birth, and babies. There is a plethora of blogs, websites, and books recommending everything under the sun, and moon, and stars.
Jeff and I keep saying that we are “growing with the baby,” and since the baby is only the size of a lime right now, we have a lot of time to learn!
So, thanks again, we really welcome the encouragement and support.

Hello world!
Hello world! If you haven’t heard yet, Jeff and Stephanie are pregnant!!! (Well, actually, Stephanie is pregnant, Jeff is just trying not to faint at the doctor visits.) This is awesome news as this is obviously our first human child after 14 years of marriage (Samson is currently our K9 child), and we hope you are as excited as we are to meet Frey Baby.
We’re going to use this website throughout the pregnancy to post news updates, pictures, and gather support for things like voting on “help us name our baby”… or suggest your own… we reserve the right to veto anything though… or we might end up with “Willy Marsh Rice Speros Martel MBYM Frey.” — Daddy, was I named after a dormitory? — Of course not son. It’s a “college.” Get it right. Martel IS a “college.”
More to come…
